Our academies are designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, helping students discover their passions, build career-ready skills, and prepare for college and beyond.

Whether students are drawn to the arts, sciences, public service, or technical fields, our diverse range of academies offers opportunities for exploration and growth.

Academy of Cinematic Arts

The Academy of Cinematic Arts opens doors to creative careers in film, broadcasting, digital media, and production. Students learn technical skills in video editing, scriptwriting, and media production, and benefit from connections with industry professionals. Graduates leave prepared for further education and careers in media arts, communications, and entertainment.

Biomedical Careers Academy

For students interested in health sciences, the Biomedical Careers Academy offers a rigorous curriculum to prepare students for a robust career in the biomedical field. Through project-based learning and partnerships with healthcare providers, students explore careers in medicine, nursing, and research.

Music & Recording Arts Pathway

The Music & Recording Arts Pathway is designed for students passionate about music performance, audio engineering, and sound production. Students gain hands-on experience with professional recording equipment, learn about music theory and composition, and explore careers in the music and entertainment industries. Through live performances, studio sessions, and mentorship from industry experts, students develop both their creative expression and technical skills, preparing them for further education and careers in music production, sound design, and audio technology.

Early College Program

CVUHSD is partnering with El Camino College to offer an Early College Program as an option for our students as an opportunity to earn college credit while at Lawndale High School. Students in the program will be enrolled both as high school students and as El Camino College students. Students will enjoy the best of both worlds: participating in high school activities such as clubs and athletics and getting a head start on college work…for free!

Multimedia Careers Academy

The Multimedia Careers Academy prepares students for dynamic careers in digital media, graphic design, animation, and interactive technologies. Students develop creative and technical skills using industry-standard software and tools, producing projects that include digital graphics, animation sequences, web content, and visual storytelling. Through collaboration with professionals and real-world project experiences, students build a strong portfolio that supports their goals in higher education and careers in media design, digital communications, and creative technology fields.

Environmental Careers Academy

This academy focuses on sustainability, renewable energy, and green technology. Students explore environmental policy, resource management, and eco-friendly innovations while participating in projects that support our district’s green initiatives. With a curriculum that integrates science and civic responsibility, students are equipped to pursue careers in environmental science, public policy, and sustainable industries.

Culinary Careers Academy

The Culinary Careers Academy brings students into the world of culinary innovation and hospitality management. Students gain hands-on training in cooking, baking, and food preparation, while also learning the principles of nutrition, food safety, and customer service. The academy extends beyond the kitchen, introducing students to hospitality operations, event planning, and restaurant management. With experiences such as catering school and community events, participating in culinary showcases, and learning directly from industry professionals, students graduate with the skills and knowledge to pursue higher education or launch careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.

School of Manufacturing & Engineering

The School of Manufacturing & Engineering equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to succeed in high-demand technical fields. Students learn core principles of engineering, manufacturing processes, and advanced fabrication techniques using industry-standard equipment and technology. With a focus on innovation and problem-solving, students engage in projects that mirror real-world manufacturing environments, preparing them for college programs and careers in engineering, industrial design, and advanced manufacturing industries.

Wood Technology Pathway

The Wood Technology Pathway introduces students to craftsmanship in woodworking, furniture making, and construction trades. Students develop practical skills in carpentry, design, and fabrication, while learning to safely operate professional tools and machinery. With a curriculum grounded in precision and creativity, students build projects from concept to completion, preparing for advanced training and careers in carpentry, construction management, and custom woodwork industries.

Technical Arts & Design Academy

The Technical Arts & Design Academy (TADA) blends creativity with technical skill, offering students a foundation in design thinking, visual arts, and technical drawing. Students explore visual presentation techniques, bringing their ideas to life through hands-on projects. With exposure to design software and real-world applications, students graduate prepared for further education and careers in fields like architecture, industrial design, drafting, and creative technology.

Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps

The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) develops leadership, citizenship, and teamwork skills through a structured curriculum grounded in military tradition and community service. Students participate in leadership labs, physical training, and civic education while gaining valuable experience in discipline, responsibility, and public service. With opportunities for drill competitions, community engagement, and leadership roles, the JROTC Program prepares students for success in both military and civilian careers, as well as further education in public service and leadership fields.

Centinela Valley Independent Study School
The Centinela Valley Independent Study School offers a flexible, personalized learning pathway for students who thrive in a self-paced environment. Designed to meet individual needs, this program allows students to complete coursework outside the traditional classroom setting while still receiving guidance from dedicated teachers and support staff. Students have the opportunity to pursue their academic goals on a schedule that works for them, whether they are balancing school with personal commitments, accelerating their learning, or seeking a smaller, focused educational experience. With access to district resources, counseling, and academic support, students in the Independent Study program stay connected to their school community while charting their own path toward graduation and future success. A chromebook is provided at no cost.
